Image via WikipediaThis week we implemented a new weekly chores list and allowance for our son. At 12 years old we feel it is time for him to learn the value of money. The way the new system works is my Son has a few chores he must do every day or week just because he is part of the family, he doesn’t get paid for any of this work. He than has a few chores that he can chose to do and he earns a commission for each one that he does. All chores done by Saturday at 5pm will be paid out that week and all chores done after Saturday at 5pm will be paid out the following week. Below is a copy of the chores he can choose to do and the commission he makes for doing each chore.

February 4th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedKitchen - Done, Kitchen Counters - Done, Bathroom - Done
Chores are truly a necessary evil. Like most people cleaning the house doesn’t even break my top 100 list of things I want to do. With that said though it must be done, despite our dislike for the tasks at hand. I have found that it is in everyones best interest to be able to complete the house cleaning chore list as fast and as easily as humanly possible. By making a list you will also be able to make sure all your cleaning tasks get done on a regular basis and that will keep your home in tip top condition. If you don’t currently have your own list or would like a new one feel free to download ours; the link is at the end of the article, or if you are feeling really creative use our list as a guide and make you own. You will be very surprised at the amount of time you can save by having all the chores for the whole house in a simple easy to read format. It will also allow you to quickly find out what has been cleaned and what still needs cleaning.
Need Some Ideas on How to Set-up Your Own House Cleaning Chore List.
The first step in making your own house cleaning chore list is to create a checklist for daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly chores. You might even decide that you need a yearly check list which you can add many things like maintenance items that you don’t want to forget. A weekly list should include tasks like scrubbing down the bathrooms and kitchen, as well as vacuuming the carpets and dusting the furniture. Mopping floors and washing linens that are used daily are also good items to have on your weekly house cleaning chore list. A monthly list can help you keep track of chores like dusting knick-knacks, cleaning out drawers and closets that are used frequently, and de-cluttering the busiest rooms like bedrooms, family rooms and the home office. Cleaning out appliances like the refrigerator and oven might be other good choices to place on your monthly house cleaning chore list.
Once you have completed your house cleaning chore lists, place the weekly list in plain sight for all of your family members to see. I have found the refrigerator is a good spot. This will make the delegation of those frequent tasks much easier, and ensure that the entire family will be able to take pride in seeing that the weekly list was completed. You can even assign certain chores to individual family members, keeping in mind that even little guys can help dust and water plants to contribute to the family. The monthly chore list can be kept with the weekly list or in a drawer or bin where it can be accessed easily to keep track of the chores that are completed. It is a good idea to pull this list out once each week to ensure that at least an item or two are completed on a regular basis.
Juggling everyday life events and keeping a busy household clean and running smoothly is no easy task for anyone. When you start using a house cleaning chore lists to delegate some of those responsibilities to other members of the family you will not only be teaching good life lessons to your family but you will find your able to complete a lot more in a much shorter period of time. We all know a clean home is a happy home!

Do You Need a Weekly Checklist for House Cleaning?
February 3rd, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedIs it time to get your entire houses cleaning chores organized? If the answer is yes, you will want to make your own weekly checklist for house cleaning. Now that can be easier said then done though. So here is a bit of information to help you along the way.
By placing weekly house cleaning chores into a checklist, you will make the necessary tasks visible to the entire family. You will also be able to lay out a plan so that the entire family can contribute. A weekly checklist for house cleaning allows you the ability to keep track of the weekly chores that have been completed and those that still need to be done. A checklist will also help to keep you on track with your house cleaning chores and ensure that your home stays in tip top condition. As an added bonus a clean home will make for a much more peaceful and relaxing environment for both you and your family.
Before you Attack the Weekly Checklist for House Cleaning…
There are two primary ways to use your checklist. First is to do a little each day and check them off as you go. The second option is to attack the majority of the list in one swoop. If this approach to a clean home is more to your liking, there are a few guidelines that will help to make your day of cleaning kitchens and bathrooms more productive. First, schedule a regular time to clean, and don’t let anything distract you from the task at hand. Let the answering machine handle the phone calls, and let Tivo take care of any shows on TV you may be missing out on during your cleaning session. Feel free to play some upbeat music while you work. I have found good upbeat music tends to keep your energy level high enough to keep me going.
Make sure you have an enough of the various house cleaning products in the house and ready to go before you start cleaning. Nothing can put the brakes on a house cleaning spree faster then running out of cleaning products. The best method for this is to keep all of your cleaning supplies and tools in a tote or plastic bucket so that the various cleaning products are easy to move from room to room. If you want to really get fancy they also have special cleaning organizers available. The best way to attack a room is to do what the professionals do and plan to only circle the room once. When you are standing at the bathroom sink, take the time to wipe down the counters tops and the mirrorsl. This method will save you both time and energy, which will allow you to get everything done on your list in one cleaning session.
So what should you Include on your Weekly Checklist for House Cleaning
The chores you need to include on your weekly house cleaning checklist are vacuuming, dusting, a complete wipe-down of all bathrooms in your house as well as your kitchen. You will want to change out all of the linens you use in the house on a daily basis like dish towels bathroom hand towels etc. Don’t forget to clean all the kitchen appliances. Finish off your weekly checklist by gathering all of the trash from the house and taking it out, this will ensure every room in your home smells as fresh as it looks. By using a weekly house cleaning checklist your house will be kept in tip top shape.
